Trust Me on This Loveswept Jennifer Crusie 9780553445589 Books

I have dearly loved the books written by Crusie alone, I do not care for the ones with the guy. I have all the others and re-read often when I need fun dialogue and interesting characters. I laugh a lot when I read her books. Sadly, I do not like this one. The dialogue is not up to her standards and the plot wanders in and out. I find I do not like the main characters. I like the older gals and the one older guy, but the love interest (?) leaves me irritated. I do not like the girl or her ways to get things done, and I do not like the guy because he uses a crappy way to accomplish what he starts. Except for Victoria and Harry, I do not like any of the others.

I am so disappointed that I will delete this one from my Kindle and surely not buy the print book as I usually do.

Sorry, Ms Crusie. I can tell you that I have read your others until the print books are ragged, and I put them on Kindle so I would not lose them. I laugh, I cry, I enjoy - I love all the others that are just YOU. You are amazing and I hate that I did not like this one. I can't afford every book because I am on a limited budget now, but I will still give them a try. I just hope there are no more along this line.

Trust Me on This Loveswept Jennifer Crusie 9780553445589 Books Reviews

Jennifer Crusie is great. I love her dialogue, not so interested in her sexual details though they weren’t too frequent or too long in this book. But the clever, funny dialogue is the best. As the librarian who first told me about her said, She’s a hoot!
I have loved all of the previous books from Ms Crusie but I just could not work up any steam for any of these characters...except maybe Victoria and Harry. I just dont know why this book fell flat...but I hope steam is built up on the next one. My favorite, and the first I read, Bet Me. Roger's Wife
Dennie Banks has successfully avoided difficult things all of her life. With her best friend Patience to catch her when and if she falls, Dennie has simply glided through life using her charm and very little effort. Now Patience is getting married, but before she leaves on her honeymoon she advises Dennie to take some risks and face some challenges - without considering the risk of failure. Which explains how Dennie, a reporter best known for wedding coverage, finds herself at a literature convention seeking to interview an expert on marriage, for the express purpose of asking her questions about her upcoming secret divorce.

Alec Prentice is a government fraud agent who has used his farm-boy good looks and an 'aw, shucks,' demeanor to put dozens of con men and hucksters behind bars. Now consigned to a desk to work on an important fraud database, Alec longs for one more operation in the field. When his Aunt Victoria invites him to the literature convention, Alec's intuition tells him that this might be his chance to finally nab Brian Bond, a predatory grifter who specializes in fleecing college professors. With great anticipation, Alec convinces his boss to set up a sting operation at the convention.

When Alec meets Dennie, sparks fly and confusion multiplies. Alec's convinced Dennie is working with Bond and for the first time, he's trying to figure out a way to get a crook off the hook instead of trying to arrest her. Dennie is both irritated by and attracted to Alec. She senses right away that he is hiding a sharp mind and keen intelligence behind his 'good ole boy' act but she doesn't have time to figure out why. She need Alec to get an interview with her subject, who happens to be a close friend of his aunt's.

Jennifer Crusie has said that Trust Me On This is her one true 'screwball comedy,' complete with mistaken identities, slapstick entanglements and hidden secrets. All of those elements are here and perfectly presented, but what really makes this novel shine is the interaction of the characters. Ms. Crusie has an extraordinary gift for witty dialogue and she uses it to great effect in Trust Me On This. If you like your romance with a healthy dose of comedy, look to Jennifer Crusie. No one does it any better.
I was (am) home sick and wanted something to read that wouldn't take a whole lot of focus or mental energy, so when I found this on my , I thought it would fit the bill perfectly. I thought I had read all of Jennifer Crusie's back catalogue, but if I'd ever read this before, I didn't remember it at all. It's nowhere near her best work, but it was a quick read and entertaining enough. It's a mistaken-identity story Alec is at a conference to catch a con man, and Dennie, a journalist, is there to interview one of the conference presenters. Alec sees Dennie talking to the con man in the hotel lobby (the con man is hitting on her, Dennie turns him down, but Alec doesn't hear their conversation), and assumes that Dennie is the con's accomplice. It's a pretty thin premise, and it probably would have been insufferably stupid in the hands of anyone but Crusie.
OMG just loved this book. This book and "Anyone But You" by Ms. Cruise are the firsts for me... but Will Not Be the Last.. love the humor with Victoria age 62 and Harry who is younger and determined not to fall for her. while they catch a con game by putting a wire on Victoria.
“All right,” Victoria Said. “What do I do first?”
“Unzip your dress,” Harry said
“Why, Harry,” Victoria said. “You impetuous fool”
“God knows how you’ve lived this long without somebody killing you,” Harry said. “Will you just unzip?”
"Your technique needs work,” Victoria said, but she turned around and unzipped her dress.

I was laughing out loud then went to to buy Ms. Crusie's book number 3
A fun adventure. Alec's aunt sends him an invitation to a conference that he is sure will be boring. It is anything but boring when he mistakes Dennie for a con artist's accomplice. Dennie thinks Alec is an unassuming, harmless kind of guy. But once in a while she suspects there is more to him. She doesn't have time for men, she is after a big story. One that will get her noticed. She is noticed, by the police, Alec and quite a few other people. Alec is determined to help her get out of her life of crime until he finds out she isn't really with the con artist. Now he just has to convince her that she needs him as much as he needs her.
